Blogs are so overrated… or are they?

Hi, my name is Kiel Kinnaman and I’m the Director of Web Communications here at Grace Community Church in Noblesville, IN. Welcome to my blog! Impressive, isn’t it? What you see in front of you is part of a revolution sweeping the internet. For those of you not familiar with blogs, let me introduce you.

Blogs (as we know them now) have been around for the past few years. Before that, a person could post their opinion on a message board or create their own web site, but those means didn’t have the same effect that modern blogs have today. Blogs are an outlet for people to write anything that they want and have it published instantaneously on the internet. Some people choose to write about their personal life, others talk about work, and even more use it as a new media to report on the news.

So what does this have to do with Grace Community Church? Well, we’re trying something new. We know that it can be intimidating to come to such a large church and it can be difficult to really connect with staff here. That’s not to say that staff don’t connect with the congregation, quite to the contrary! But as our church continues to grow, it’s going to be harder to maintain the authentic relationships with the 4,000+ that attend each weekend (but we sure are going to try!).

This is where blogs come in! We are going to start rolling out blogs for various ministries here at Grace. Staffers that use a blog are free to write about whatever they like, sometimes it may be talking about the blessings that come from the ministry, other times it may be talking about family life. It’s a chance for you to get a better glimpse of what’s going on inside and outside the walls of Grace from the people who have the awesome privilege of working here.

Are you ready for it? In the coming months I’ll be introducing you to new blogs here at Grace Community Church and how to get the most out of them. Talk to you soon!
