(Almost) Daily How-To #47
Listening: “Carried to the Table” by Leeland
Thinking: Why did I choose such an expensive hobby? I am drooling over tripods, flashes, and light diffusers. My old tripod broke while doing a photo shoot downtown. Now I’m wondering, do I spend $30 to buy a cheap one (that will break on me sooner) or invest in a professional-grade tripod? I also need to work on my lighting and would like a new flash for my camera… oh man… I’d better get these expensive things out of the way!
Thankful For: My mornings at work. I’ve been spending the first twenty minutes of each day reading the Bible and praying. I’m currently doing the One Year Bible in chronological order. I’m hoping that maybe I’ll become a morning person and be able to get up and do this before work! As of right now though, I’m always running out the door with a Nutri-Grain bar and green tea… no time for breakfast or reading.
How to Make Me Laugh: When my friend calls people “butt cake.” Ha ha!
How to Annoy Me: The number of e-mails that I’ve received from the “Christian Family Values Coalition” and the “End Times Advisory” since Obama got elected. Where were they when Bush was in office? I’m not even going to go into detail about all the wrong things he did. I might actually read these e-mails if they weren’t so biased, if they encouraged people to pray for our leader, and recognize that the Republican Party is not the “Jesus party.” Remember, scripture says that “not one is righteous, not even one” (Romans 3:10). All politicians need to read Matthew 7:3-5 when it says that “you must remove the plank in your own eye before trying to remove the speck in your brother’s eye.”
Okay… no more political talk… no more political talk… ![]()
Quote of the Day: The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
