Hanging Out With the Kids of Kidtown
So today was a weird day and busy day. I had a really hard time sleeping last night, I went to bed and ended up getting up a couple of times during the night. Needless to say, I was NOT ready when it came time to work.
At lunch time I got to do something I haven’t done in a while, I went to Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel (OLMC). While no longer Catholic, I do feel somewhat at home when I attend service there. And since my church doesn’t have an Ash Wednesday service, I decided it would be nice to worship with the people at OLMC. I had a little bit of a hard time singing the chants, after all, it’s been a while. And the nice old lady who put the ashes on my forehead didn’t even make a sign of the cross, so it just looked like I had a black smudge on my forehead. So after being asked a couple of times, “Hey Kiel, did you know you have a smudge on your forehead?” I decided to wipe it off. But don’t worry, in true Ash Wednesday fashion, I reminded people that I was still repentant.
After work I had the chance to go to Faith’s school for the third grade’s Kidstown. The kids have been working for a while on coming up with a product or service to sell. The parents invested money, the kids created ads for their business, and I think the whole point was to come out even or making a profit. We had a good time checking out the different tables and seeing the kids enthusiasm.

Afterward we checked out Faith’s classroom, they’re doing a camping theme this year, so that was fun to see her room. Although Chad and Betsy got in a little fight (see pic below) and I almost made them sit out in the hallway and work things out. Ha ha!
And of course, I was delighted with joy when I saw a wooden cutout on Faith’s desk that said, “Welcome Friends.” Ahhh, that made my day. Ha ha! Although I am disappointed that I didn’t see the picture of us guys on her desk (you can see that picture here), but we will forgive her.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad day. I’m pretty well caught up at work, so tomorrow I’ll be doing a lot of planning. I’m also looking forward to picking up my mom at the airport and having a three day weekend. SWEET!
I hope all of you had a very repentful Ash Wednesday and I’m wondering, did any of you give up something for Lent? I have given up debating with die-hard Republicans… so don’t get me started. Ha ha! I’m also happy that Paradise Bakery & Cafe brought back the egg salad sandwich for Lent, so at least that makes me happy.
