(Almost) Daily How-To #28

Posted by Kiel on Dec 20, 2008

Watching: “White Christmas” with Bing Crosby.

Thinking: Today was an awesome day. Pretty relaxing, cleaned the whole apartment. Looking forward to seeing family and friends for Christmas. Also keeping my friends who lost their jobs in my prayers.

How to Annoy Me: The dog downstairs has been whimpering for a couple hours. Someone needs to get that dog a Nyquil-laced biscuit! LOL. Oh well, I think he’s starting to settle down now, so I’m going to keep really quiet so I don’t wake him up.

How to Make Me Laugh: Hmmm, I dunno. Nothing really made me laugh today.

Quote of the Day: “Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.” – Oren Arnold

Iraqi Journalist Throws Shoes at U.S. President, Press Has a Field Day

Posted by Kiel on Dec 14, 2008

We were treated to something today that as Americans we don’t normally see, shoes being thrown at the president of the United States. I must say, this has been a long time coming. Many at home and abroad oppose the United States occupation of Iraq and apparently it only took over five years for someone to send a pair of Nikes flying at George W. Bush.

I will say this, Dubya has good reflexes and missed getting hit by both shoes. And if this goes down as the one thing in history that he will be remembered for, I’m sure Americans won’t mind. All I have to say is, this guy has some guts to throw objects at the most powerful man in the world. Well played… well played.

We Need More CEOs Like This Guy

Posted by Kiel on Dec 1, 2008

In this economy, it amazes me when I see stories like this. With a decline in the industry, Japan Airline’s CEO slashes his salary and gives up his perks. What a guy! Is he benefitting in some other way (stock options, etc.)? I don’t know.

But it goes to show that when times get tough, everyone must share in the burden, even the top execs. Many American companies would rather file for bankruptcy than having their executives lose their perks in order to keep the company afloat.

Grace’s Weekend of Service

Posted by Kiel on Nov 23, 2008

On November 1-2, 2008, Grace Community Church closed its doors and sent our people out into the community (Marion and Hamilton County) to do a variety of service projects. Sitting in services this weekend, it was amazing to hear how so many people were changed by going out into the community and serving. It’s our specific hope that they will get involved with our Frontline Ministries and various ministries throughout the community so that we can make a difference for the kingdom of God. To see pictures from the Weekend of Service, visit weekend.gracecc.org. Here’s a video that our video producer Mighty put together.

Posted by Kiel on Nov 3, 2008

This is a very important election year, and since I get haggled about voting for Barack Obama, I wanted all of you to know about another choice… Ralph Wiggum.
