(Almost) Daily Ramblings #53

Posted by Kiel on Feb 26, 2009

So I’m switching up my “(Almost) Daily How-To” posts. I actually realized that I didn’t usually have very many “how-to” ideas… it got hard after a while! I mean honestly, I don’t know if I can continually post things that annoy me or how to make me laugh. So I’m going to tweak it a little bit and just share my various thoughts from the day… and if you know me, I can be pretty random. I think you’ll see that it’ll be a lot like the “(Almost) Daily How-To,” just slightly different. So enjoy!

What I’m Listening To: Some random music playing at Starbucks. I’m surprised that my iPhone app, Shazam, doesn’t recognize it. I think it’s off of one of the Starbucks CDs.

What I’m Working On: I’m currently looking for a new content management system for GraceCC.org. Right now I’m looking at Ekklesia 360, looks like College Park Church is one of their users… hmmm, going to have to holler at my friends over there. :-)

What I’m Looking Forward To: My mom is flying in from Florida today! So I get to see her and I’m taking tomorrow off, so that means I get a three-day weekend! Yay!

Where I’m At On My 2009 To-Do List: Hmmm, that’s an interesting one. As far as reading, I was reading A Man After God’s Own Heart (which isn’t on my list). I’m about halfway through that book and halfway through Justice That Restores. I haven’t been reading my Bible every day (in accordance with my daily reading plan), BUT I usually catch up to where I’m supposed to be.

I have been learning Photoshop, started the Citizen’s Police Academy (you can read about that here), but have yet to plan my trips for this year. I’ll need to get on that!

Bible Lesson of the Day: I’m currently doing the One Year Bible in chronological order (click here to download a PDF of my reading plan). I read Genesis 28-30ish… and was surprised at how Rachel and Leah had so many children, almost to spite eachother. I’ll have to look through my commentaries to see exactly was going on there.

Quote of the Day: “I am a success today because I had a friend who believed in me and I didn’t have the heart to let him down…” – Abraham Lincoln

(Almost) Daily How-To #25

Posted by Kiel on Dec 14, 2008

Watching: Inside the Actors Studio with Daniel Radcliffe as guest.

Thinking: The Iraqi journalist that threw his shoes at George W. Bush has a lot of guts. :-)

How to Annoy Me: Drive under the speed limit. Seriously people, the speed limit in Carmel is already too low, go a little faster please!

How to Make Me Laugh: Use the art of Gingerbread making to create a “Gingerbread Victoria’s Secret Girl.” Way to go Chad!

Quote of the Day: “If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend. Therein is a drop of honey that catches his heart, which, say what you will, is the great high-road to his reason, and which, when once gained, you will find but little trouble in convincing his judgment of the justice of your cause” – Abraham Lincoln

(Almost) Daily How-To #9

Posted by Kiel on Oct 31, 2008

Listening: “Crack the Shutters” by Snow Patrol.

Reading: The Top Ten Reasons Conservatives Should Vote for Obama.

Thinking: I’m thinking several things. First, I can’t believe gas is back around $2.15/.gal. Second, I love my friends. Third, I feel sorry for the guy who tried proposing at Monument Circle and got rejected… it truly was a sad sight.

How to Annoy Me: Hit-and-run evangelism. While I appreciate your attempt to share the Gospel with me, perhaps there are better ways then handing me a tract and walking off. Had you taken the time to talk with me, you would’ve found out that I’m a follower of Jesus and could’ve saved you from wasting a tract. :-)

How to Make Me Smile: Laugh at and with me. This seems to be a trend with me. I love laughter and love making people laugh, it brings joy to a world that can be harsh.

Quote of the Day: “Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?” – Abraham Lincoln
