Well, it’s official, Milo and I have moved into our bachelor pad in Carmel! In case you didn’t figure it out, Milo is the bird that’s perched on me in the picture below. Overall the move went well. On Tuesday I worked on taping the borders and everything for painting, I painted on Thursday (along with the furniture being delivered), and moved everything in on Friday.

Here are a few pictures:

Overall I’m really happy with how everything came together. There was only one “mishap” in the whole moving process. I placed some plates on a shelf in the cupboard and the shelf completely collapsed, causing eight of my dinner plates to hit the floor and break. It was quite the noise maker… but fortunately nobody was hurt and I was only out 30 dollars.
It’s a beautiful day today, so I think I’m going to check out the park next door which has a couple of trails that circle the park and a small pond. I’m excited to take my bike out and check it out. Hope all of you are doing well!

So it’s been almost a week since my last post. I’ve been keeping pretty busy as I get closer to my move-in date. The one thing I’ve really been lacking for the new place is furniture. I’ve been looking everywhere trying to find the perfect furniture to match the colors that I’ve picked out for my new place. Unforunately, everything I saw was either too ugly or I didn’t like the fabric… I am not a big fan of “micro-fiber” by the way… nor am I a fan of micro-fiber couches that are made to look like leather, but don’t feel like leather.
I kid you not, this salesman was like, “here’s a couch that looks like leather, but it’s not.” Honestly… either you like leather or you don’t… and if you like leather, you’d be pretty disappointed to sit down on a couch that looked like leather, but was micro-fiber.
So I went over to Kittle’s Rooms Express and found a glass kitchen table I like with four chairs… which is pretty sweet. I ended up going back to Kittle’s for my couches too since I couldn’t find anything good at the other stores. I ended up spending more than I wanted, but if I pay it off before January, I don’t incur any interest…. sweet.
Milo has been busy getting used to his new surroundings (which will change in a week anyways). I cover him up at night, but in the morning when I get up, I place him by the window and he chirps very happily to greet the day. He does this (much to my brothers’ dislike) for about 5 minutes. I have taught him to perch on my finger and pretty much nothing else. He has gotten brave enough to fly, but ended up running into the refrigerator and also pooping himself in the process… Milo has learned that the refrigerator is not your friend (if you’re a bird anyways).
I’m looking forward to next week, I’ll be working Monday through Wednesday, while taking Thursday and Friday off. I don’t have a ton of stuff and fortunately, Kittle’s is going to deliver my furniture. I thought about bringing the U-Haul by their warehouse to save money, but in the end, I’m too lazy to carry all that furniture upstairs.

Well, that’s all for now. I hope everyone is doing well!

So I’m counting down the days until I finally move out of my boyhood home and go out on my own. I’ve lived in this house around 18 years and I have some really good memories… so in a way, it’s kind of sad to leave.
But as the campus pastor at Crossroads told me, there comes a time when the baby bird has to move out of the nest. So how appropriate for me to mark this occasion of moving out of the nest by getting myself a new friend… of the feathered kind.
His name is Milo and he’s a cockatiel. After work I headed over to PetSmart and bought the cage, the food, the toys… the whole deal. And then I went across the street to PetLand to pick up Milo (since PetSmart didn’t have the specific type of cockatiel that I wanted). I pimped out his cage with a lot of cool little things to do and I think I’ll introduce him to Friends during the day while I’m gone… I’m sure the bird will love getting acquainted with Joey, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe! “How you doin?”

I’ve slowly been packing things up in preparation for the move (which is in 14 days). The last thing I really have to pack up is the stuff in my room, which isn’t a lot. I am also excited for it to warm up because I bought this awesome Schwinn at Target the other week and have been eager to take it on the Monon… in fact, I have spent a lot of money at Target in the past month… they should reward me!
So yeah… in a nutshell… that’s what’s new. I feel like my life is finally moving forward in a good way. The past couple of years has been a big time of growth for me, but I didn’t feel like I was really getting anywhere. Now I have a job, new place to live, some awesome friends… I feel very blessed.
Well my friends, that’s all for now. I tried to cover up Milo’s cage as best as I could so I can play Call of Duty 4 online while he tries and sleeps (can you believe that they need at least 10-12 hours of sleep?!). I hope all of you are well!

Ahhh, the beach. My Spring Break officially started after class today at 11:30 a.m. and I’m stuck in Indiana. Yep, that happens when you’re spontaneous and you normally make travel plans at the last minute. So for now, I am looking at beach scenes and wishing I was there.
It’s been a fairly exciting week, as I have been apartment hunting! Needless to say it’s been fairly successful and I think I may have found a place in Carmel… yup… Carmel. For all the trash talking I’ve done towards Carmel in my four years at North Central, I have decided that Carmel has grown on me.
I have plenty of money saved up to buy the essentials for the kitchen and bathroom and will probably look around places for used furniture (hello flea markets, Craig’s List, and Goodwill!). After I go on my shopping spree at Target, I think I’ll have a lot of what I need, I just won’t have any living room furniture, which isn’t a big deal to me. Why? Because summer time means that I’ll be outside a lot and there will be Tiki Time at Noah’s house!
Which by the way, reminds me that I need to find a bike to go on the Monon… I’ve been using my Dad’s bike for years, but I don’t think he likes the idea of me taking his bike with me.
So overall, I’m pretty content with life. I’m excited about the near future, the upcoming warm weather, a new place… I think everything is starting to come together.
I have to thank God the most for helping me through over the past several months. I’ve slipped up a few times, but I think I’m finally in a good place: at school, at home, and at work. Woo hoo! Well, that’s all for now. I’ll keep you posted on apartment updates!
